The Syracuse Police Department Traffic Section is investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred on Route 690 west near Hiawatha Blvd. at about 10:30 PM last night.
Syracuse Police responded to the scene after 911 received a call reporting that a motorcyclist had just struck the center guide rail while headed westbound on Route 690. Police arrived on the scene and located a male who sustained serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with the passenger side of a car that was also driving westbound on Route 690.
The motorcycle than struck a guide rail before the lone rider was ejected from his motorcycle and landed in the eastbound lane of Route 690. The motorcycle operator was immediately transported to Upstate Hospital with serious injuries and is listed in critical condition. The motorcyclist has been identified as 62 year old Paul Warren of Baldwinsville, NY. The operator of the 2002 Toyota immediately stopped his vehicle and police identified the male driver as 32 year old Carlos Rodriguez-Nunez of Union, NJ. The highway was closed in both directions at the crash scene while police processed the scene.
