REMSEN, N.Y. (AP) _ Winter Olympics bronze medal winner Erin Hamlin will receive a hero's welcome when she returns to her central New York hometown this week.

Hamlin is scheduled to arrive at the Syracuse airport late Thursday afternoon, followed by a police escort that will take her through Verona, Rome and other Oneida County communities before arriving in her hometown of Remsen.

A parade is scheduled to begin about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 31 and Main Street in Verona and end at Remsen Junior-Senior High School.

Two weeks ago in Sochi, Russia, the 27-year-old Hamlin became the first American to ever win an Olympic singles luge medal, earning her a $10,000 bonus from the U.S. Olympic Committee for her bronze.
