A local coalition is pleased with the Onondaga County Legislature for considering more public comment on the Lakeview Amphitheater Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
Citizens For A Better Plan says more time is necessary to consider all aspects of the amphitheater on Onondaga Lake in Solvay. They have written the legislature, asking them to keep the comment period open until the public has all the information it needs to develop a full understanding of the project, its potential consequences, and proposed mitigation measures. It says that a number of critical planning and design documents remain in development or aren't available to the public.
The group is a coalition of several local groups, including the Onondaga Nation, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, and local chapters of the Audubon Society, Izaak Walton League of America and the Sierra Club.
The county legislature will vote Tuesday afternoon on a proposal to extend the comment period an additional 25 days.
