(Syracuse, N.Y.) Until this year, vendors at the New York State Fair had to stop selling alcoholic drinks at 9:30 p.m., but this year alcoholic beverages can be served  until 10 p.m., 30 minutes longer, which coincides with the 10 p.m.  closing time for restaurant booths.

In addition to the extended drinking time, the state Department of Agriculture & Markets is encouraging  fairgoers to sample New York state beers and wines which being featured at the fair starting Thursday. A new map is available of the "Taste NY trail"  showing vendors that sell New York-made products being sold on the fairgrounds. Twenty-five percent of all beer sales benefit the fair, which also receives 5 cents for each cup purchased by vendors serving beer.
