A huge fire at an East Syracuse recycling facility has destroyed five buildings.

The fire at Syracuse Recycling is at the corner of Clark and Carr Streets in the village, which is near the intersection of Thompson Road and Burnet Avenue. Officials say the fire, which was first reported at about 2:15am, destroyed all five buildings that made up the plant. They also say plastic material inside could smolder for days.

There was no overnight shift at the plant, and no one has been hurt. Officials say there's no public threat from the blaze, and no evacuations have been made.
