First Responder Memorial Ceremony Honors Past And Present

The Onondaga County Volunteer Fireman's Association along with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office will honor fallen officer, deputies and firefighters tonight in front of the Justice Center in Syracuse.

According to a press release, the ceremony will feature acknowledging a line-of-duty death that occurred 48 years ago. Skaneateles firefighter George Dove died while fighting a brush fire in 1965. The Skaneateles Fire Department will have a contingent present as other firefighters and police officers pay respect to their fallen brethren. Dignitaries such as Senator John DeFrancisco and Sheriff Kevin Walsh will be in attendance, along with fire and police equipment. The ceremony begins at 6 pm at the Paladium Statue Site in front of the Justice Center on State Street in Syracuse.
