Onondaga County health officials now say they've detected the first evidence this season of the deadly West Nile virus.

Officials say mosquitoes found in pools on Taft Road and in Geddes tested positive for West Nile. Four other pools in the town of Cicero had mosquitoes carrying the Triple-E virus.  Despite the discovery, the department has no plans for additional spraying.  They say overall mosquito counts are low this season, and continued use of personal protection methods are the best way to avoid contact with either virus.
