Some bad publicity today for the City of Syracuse after the New York Times highlighted a big problem in town.

You may not know it, but the City of Syracuse has had more than 100 water main breaks since the first of the year. Today the New York Times did a big writeup on the water woes in Syracuse and other upstate cities as thier infranstructure continues to crumble.

The city claims that there's no way out of the problem without state help or even federal money to fix the system, but there's no explanation as to why the water system hasn't been maintained over the years..

Mayor Stephanie Miner has already sent a letter to the governor with her hand out asking for cash.

There have been 107 main breaks since January first, with two of them coming this week, the most recent,  just yesterday in the James Street neighborhood.
