Part of a mystery has been solved in Oswego County that dates back to the 90's.
Oswego City Police say they've been able to make a positive ID on human remains that were found in a submerged car pulled from the Oswego River in Fulton last week.
They are the remains of Carol Wood, who disappeared back in August of 1996 when she was last seen leaving a tavern in the city of Oswego.
The Onondaga County Medical Examner has taken several days to make the positive ID, but police say they still don't know how Carol Wood died and they aren't ready to come to any conclusions as to whether her death was an accident.
They say the family of Carol Wood has been notified of the findings, but they're investigation into her death is still ongoing and active, as it has been for 18 years now.
Anyone with information on the case is being asked to contact Sgt. Damien Waters at 342-8266 or Captain Charles Tonkin at 342-8130.
