Severe storms have pummelled parts of Central New York this afternoon and Madison County has been especially hard hit.

The sheriff's department has now issued a travel advisory after a strong storm cell hit with strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Deputies say there's so much debris on some roads in the southern part of the county, the roads are now impassable. The debris includes trees, and downed power lines and pose a danger to any driver.

The Towns of Lebanon, Hamilton anf Brookfield are especially hard hit and police say all travel there should be avoided.

They have reports of trees down on homes, trees down on cars and there's even a report of a building collapse in the town of Hamilton.

The Sheriff's Department though says they have no reports of any serious injuries and National Grid and NYSEG crews are now on thier way to the scene to try and restore power.
