WEBB, N.Y. (AP) _ Authorities say the pilot of a small plane was killed in a crash in a remote area of the Adirondacks.

Local media report that the single-engine plane crashed Thursday at Stillwater Reservoir in Herkimer County, about 60 miles north of Utica.

WWNY-TV in Watertown reports that the pilot of the plane was 76-year-old Schiele Brewer, who had a camp nearby.

Police say his small single-engine plane took off from Boonville in neighboring Oneida County on Thursday morning.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
