The state senate's budget plan includes close to a billion dollars in additional education aid.

North country senator Patty Ritchie says it puts $541 million in the budget to cut the state's Gap Elimination Adjustment, which takes money from schools.  Ritchie says it's probably the number one request made of her by school districts she represents.  Ritchie says there's more money in state college tuition assistance. There's also an additional $145 million available for schools outside New York City to expand kindergarten or pre-K programs, or to use the money for other programs if they desire.
