A Syracuse pizza ship owner has now died of his injuries after being shot Tuesday morning during a robbery at the store.

38 year old Shqair Shqair died at Upstate Hospital after emergency surgery.

City police say the the masked suspect walked into his store, Sabatino's Pizza on Ballantyne Road at about 1:05 Tuesday morning and pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the clerk.

Shqair would not turn over money to the bandit and the suspect began firing, striking the owner. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with an emblem on the chest, jeans and a purple bandana over his face.

City police say they have now obtained surveillance video from the store and are now reviewing that evidence and are hoping the public can provide them with clues too.

Syracuse Police say the pizzeria has been a trouble spot before. Police were called to the shop 40 times alone this year alone. Those calls included shots fired, fights and robberies.

This is Syracuse's 18th homicide of the year.
