For the first time since 2005, the Syracuse Orange have beaten out Kentucky and clinched the season-long attendance record in college basketball.
SU has already packed over 423,000 fans into the Dome across their first 16 home games and match-ups with Boston College and Georgia Tech still remain.
The Wildcats have 3 home games left but can’t catch the Cuse even with a trio of sellouts, so the Orange can use those remaining midweek tilts to pad the lead.
This is currently the 6th highest season ever for the Orange in terms of average attendance per home game, but the top 5 all occurred in consecutive years during a different era from 1988-1992.
Tomorrow’s game against BC will feature throwback uniforms on the court but is unlikely to reach the Dome average of over 26,000 fans in the stands. Senior night for March 4 against Georgia Tech, though, should boost the season average despite taking place on a Tuesday. That will definitely be the final home game for C.J. Fair and Baye Keita, and it could also be the final chance for Central New York fans to see Tyler Ennis, Jerami Grant, and even Rakeem Christmas depending on their respective NBA Draft decisions.
