An organizational change by Syracuse's long-time baseball club will mean the end of over 40 years of leadership by one family.

The Syracuse Chiefs board of directors voted to accept a plan by three of its members to loan the team a half million dollars in exchange for control of the team's operations. The Chiefs are a half-million dollars in debt and six month behind in rent at NBT Stadium. The move means general manager John Simone is out, just months after his father Tex stepped down from his leadership role. A Simone has run the Chiefs since 1970. SS, 570 WSYR.
