The town and village of Elbridge are not in harmony when it comes to the fire department that also shares their name.

The village board rejected a contract proposed by the town to hire and pay three commissioners to run the Elbridge Fire Department. The village objected to it for several reasons, including the $6,000 annual salary - more than the village board earns - and that there were no resumes for the three commissioners the town wants to hire. The village board told the town to return with a proposal that addresses its concerns and has the commissioners oversee both Jordan and Elbridge fire departments.
