Top 30 Most Diverse School Districts in Upstate NY

Diversity in schools is so important. Luckily, diversity in schools across America is continuing to grow. The ratio of female to male students is almost now equal, and the number of African American and Hispanic students continue to grow.

The website Niche.com complied data from the U.S. Department of Education to analyze diversity among schools across the nation. A list of the top 30 most diverse schools was complied for all of Upstate NY. Some schools on that list came from Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and right here in Central New York!

While Central New York only had two school on the top 30 list, both of the schools on the list are large districts and ranked very high on the list. Number 7 on the list was Syracuse City School District. With over 20,000 students enrolled, almost 50% are African American and 13% are Hispanic. Not only was Syracuse City School District ranked high, but Utica City School District ranked number 1 for most diversity! With about 10,000 enrollment, the school is comprised of: 32.7 % White, 26 % African American, 18.7 % Hispanic, 17.6 % Asian, and 5 % multiracial.

Like I said, while Central New York only has two schools on the top 30 list, they are ranked at number 7 and 1. That's still pretty amazing. Hopefully, more schools in Central New York will be added to this list in the future.
