Megan Moroney performed two of the most popular anthems from her sophomore album on Good Morning America on Friday (August 30).

The award-winning country star donned a shimmering dress and signature white cowboy boots when she grabbed her rhinestone mic and took the stage in the GMA studio. Moroney, 26, delivered renditions of her album’s title track, “Am I Okay?,” and “Indifferent” with millions of viewers tuning in to the Emmy-winning morning news show. Moroney released her 14-track album last month, following her powerful debut record, Lucky, and its deluxe edition that released last year.

Moroney previously pointed out the irony of the song title, “Am I Okay?” She wrote the album-defining anthem with Luke Laird and Jessie Jo Dillon, and said in a statement that she loves that some might assume “it’s a heart-wrenching song, especially since I’m the Emo Cowgirl and everyone thinks I’m so sad all the time. But really it’s about meeting someone new and realizing, ‘Oh my god, I’m not miserable anymore. He’s actually making me happy. Am I okay?’”

Moroney teamed up with Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter and Micah Carpenter to write “Indifferent,” a bold breakup anthem that fuses rock elements into Moroney’s country sound. “Indifferent” sees the singer reaching a point that she quits caring about an ex. It was one of the songs to release before Am I Okay? arrived in July, along with “28th of June,” “No Caller ID” and others. The full sophomore album offered a blend of heartfelt ballads and high-energy anthems that were fit for stadium crowds when Moroney joined Kenny Chesney on his tour this summer.

“I think I’ve just did what I’ve always done, which is write honest songs about my personal life. And I didn’t overthink it, and I think my fans are just the best in the world. I know that. And they’re so loyal and I think they enjoy me becoming more vulnerable in my songs, and they’re just the best,” Moroney said while catching up with Good Morning America’s Rebecca Jarvis, when asked about how she approached her sophomore record.

“During a crazy touring schedule, on 14 different occasions, I sat down and impulsively wrote exactly how I was feeling, whether it was right or wrong,” Moroney reflected in a handwritten note to her fans when she released her album in July. “If Am I Okay? feels more honest and vulnerable than anything I’ve released, it’s because you guys have made me feel comfortable enough to do that. ...By the time you get to the end of the album, a valid question would be ‘omg…is she okay?’ And I just want y’all to know that with you by my side, I’ll always be just fine.

“Going into making this record, I was getting a lot of outside opinions on what my second album should be,” Moroney added in a statement. “After a while I realized I just needed to stay true to how I started writing songs when I was 19, and then focus on making music that sonically supports the stories I’m telling. I did my best to block out all that outside noise, and just lead with honesty the whole way through.”
