Is your Kia or Hyundai a target for thieves to steal?

A viral TikTok video is behind a massive auto theft spree. A video tagged the “Kia Challenge” was first posted in 2021 by a group known as the Kia Boys. It demonstrated a security flaw in Kia models from 2011 to 2021 and Hyundai models from 2015 to 2021 that makes them easier to hotwire. Manufacturers admit that these models were built without an electronic immobilizer, a chip in the key fob required to start the car. Without this immobilizer, it’s possible to hijack the vehicle using only a USB cord. What can you do if you own one? Get the free upgrade to restrict unauthorized operation of a vehicle. The software upgrade should prevent this theft from being as easy to execute. Another idea would be putting a club on your steering wheel and keeping it locked when you're away from your vehicle.
