The Syracuse Chiefs won the first game of their doubleheader against the Indianapolis Indians at NBT Bank Stadium on Wednesday. The score was 5-0. Catcher Tuffy Goeswisch went 3 for 3 and drove in one of the Chiefs runs. David Goforth got the win to improve his record to 1-1.
However, the biggest news out of NBT Bank Stadium was that fact that four Chiefs' pitchers combined to pitch a no-hitter against the Indians! Austin Voth, David Goforth, Tim Collins, and Austin Adams tossed the seven-inning no-hitter. The no-hitter was the 17th one in franchise history. It was the first since June 17, 2000 which, ironically, was also against the Indianapolis Indians.
Starter Voth pitched three innings, while Goforth pitched 2 innings. Collins and Adams pitched one inning each. Syracuse improved to 7-4 on the young season while Indianapolis fell to 5-5. Congratulations to the Chiefs!
