The "Blessing Of The Bikes" This Year Was A Huge Success

St. Daniels Church was the scene of an annual ritual that has been going on for 35 years. Monsignor Eugene Yennock performed the Annual Blessing of the Bikes. Despite inclement weather, many bikers showed up to have their bikes blessed before the start of motorcycle season.

According to Jerry Letson, president of the Onondaga County Chapter of American Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE), the event is designed to “make motorists aware of motorcycles and road safety.” According to the National Highway Traffic Administration, motorcycles, per vehicle mile traveled, have a 35% higher risk of having a fatal accident than a passenger car.

The assembled bikers also made the event a charitable occasion. Donations were sought from those attending to benefit the Rescue Mission. Bad weather did not prevent this event from being a successful one!  Congratulations to all who attended!
