Hooray for maple syrup! The Governor’s Office said that it was a “sweet” year for New York’s maple industry. In 2018, New York maple producers hit a 74 year record with the production of 806,000 gallons of maple syrup!
The maple industry had the benefit of a longer production season this year with 52 days as opposed to 43 in 2017. In addition, Governor Andrew Cuomo said that New York State’s maple industry has grown by nearly 50 percent in the last 5 years!
Finally, Cuomo mentioned that the State’s maple industry accounts for 19 percent of the nation’s total yearly production! New York is second in maple production, behind Vermont, with 2.73 million taps in production in 2018. So, get those pancakes on the griddle cause there will be plenty of maple syrup to go around!
