I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. If you don't, let me explain. You're scrolling through your Facebook feed, and you click on a link to read an article. All of a sudden, a pop up claiming to be from a website like "Amazon" say "Congratulations, you have won an Amazon gift card". Other pop ups claim that you won a new iPhone, but these ads couldn't be farther from the truth.
Most people are smart enough to realize that these pop ups are scams, but that's not the issue. The issue is how do we make these ads stop! While it may be impossible to stop them completely, here are a few tips on how to handle them.
1. Never click on any parts of the ad or give personal information. This could compromise your Facebook account or your phone in general.
2. To close out of the the ad, close your browser or Facebook app, and then swipe out of the app.
3. After that, clear your phone's web history to avoid future ads
Hopefully these tips help stop these "congratulations" ads for you. If not, you can also install an ad blocker on your iPhone to really combat this issue. Either way, I'm sorry to break it to you, but you didn't win an Amazon gift card or an iPhone that easy.
