It's a first for the NYS Fair this year! The fair is the place to showcase new food and drinks, so what better place to have beer and wine ice cream. This year, "Gilligan's Ice Cream" booth in the wine tent will feature both beer and wine ice cream with multiple flavors. Gilligan's is an ice cream shop located in Sherburne, NY and is also the first shop to make beer ice cream in NYS.
The owner of Gilligan's says that revised laws in NYS allowed them to add beer ice cream to the menu after the creation of wine ice cream. He also claims that customers who have had the beer ice cream in their shop claim you can in fact taste the beer. Sounds interesting right? Can you get drunk off of this? Well, considering the laws in place for this, probably not.
You must be 21 or over to purchase the ice cream whether it actually gets you drunk or not. I think this is an interesting experiment, especially to see the reception of everyone at the fair. I might have to just go try it myself one of the days I'm there.
