In an interesting study that was released recently, it appears that parents can influence what kind of music their children like, but that influence window is for only about two years. The age window, according to the study, is between the years of 8 and 10 years old.
The University of York study said that during that age bracket, parents can influence their children’s taste in music. Dr. Michelle Dickinson said that during that age time period, children are old enough to appreciate lyrics and tunes, but not yet old enough to be embarrassed by their parents taste in music.
One point to the study: Dickinson said that you have to get your children on board first before it works. She suggests playing the music in the background at home first so that the youngsters slowly get used to it. So there you have it parents! It’s now up to you to get it done!
