Captain Kirk Records Country Album With Alabama's Jeff Cook? Yes He Did!

In an extremely interesting musical collaboration, it seems that “Star Trek’s” Captain Kirk, aka William Shatner, has teamed up with Alabama’s lead guitarist, Jeff Cook, to make a country music album. The record is called “Why Not Me?”

Shatner, 88, said he did the album because he has been an admirer “of country music for the longest time.” For his part, Cook said that he was surprised how quickly and smoothly the recording went. “Things just flowed,” Cook told “Rolling Stone” magazine. Cook and Shatner have been friends for 40 years.

Shatner has had quite a musical career in addition to his acting resume. His musical career can be quite interesting to listen to as his albums are usually spoken lyrics as opposed to singing. Anyway, if you are interested in a snippet of the album, check out the album’s namesake tune below. Enjoy!
