Syracuse University Honors Tim Green With Its Highest Honor

Syracuse University has bestowed its highest honor, The Chancellor’s Medal, to former football great Tim Green. Green’s son, Thane, accepted the award for his father from Chancellor Kent Syverud last Friday.

Green, who last November announced he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease, played football at Syracuse from 1982-1985, and remains the school’s all-time sack leader with 45.5 sacks during his career. He graduated from Syracuse summa cum laude, played pro football, and is an accomplished author.

The Chancellor’s Medal is awarded to an individual whose success and philanthropic contributions have made a significant impact on society and the university.Congratulations, Tim, Central New York is proud to call you one of its own!
