New license plates for New York State? Yes, and New Yorkers can have a say in the new design! This according to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office in a recent press release. The State has narrowed the new design to 5 finalists and residents of New York will be able to vote on the new design.
“License plates are a symbol of who we are as a state and New Yorkers should have a voice and a vote in its final design,” the governor said in a press release. The State will be launching a new 10 year license plate replacement program when the new plates become available in April of 2020.
The aging Empire blue and white plates are more than 10 years old and are beginning to show their age, the governor pointed out. The new plates will be reflective and easy to read. To view the new plates and to vote on a design, visit now.ny.gov. Voting begins this coming Monday.
