Wow! Talk about perseverance! A 50 year old man set off from San Francisco with the intent of using a paddle board to reach Hawaii in 70 days! Setting of in June, and despite taking six days longer, he reached his destination 2,500 miles later!
Antonio De La Rosa, from Spain, used the Ocean Defender paddle board, which measures 24 feet long, to accomplish his feat. The paddle boad included a sleeping cabin, solar panels to power his GPS, and other useful electronics. He also had a 90 day supply of food with him.
De La Rosa was briefly taken off course by Hurricane Flossie, but reached his goal when he reached the coast of Molokai. Quite an achievement for the 50 year old athlete from Spain!
