I attended a memorial Barbecue to honor one of my best friends yesterday. It was really quite nice. She was a friend of mine since high school and we were room mates for quite some time. We still kept in touch until she died in a motorcycle accident in Florida. Her family invited me to the barbecue to cast her ashes into her beloved Alex Bay area. She and I were regulars to the area when we young and wild. I have many happy memories. Well she had the last laugh on me yesterday. We each took turns scattering ashes into the water. When the tiny little container got back to me again, I asked should I just throw them all in and everyone said yes. We had turned our backs specifically to the wind so they would go into the water. When I emptied the final container, didn't the ashes blow back on the dock and on me. I just started laughing, as I knew she would appreciate that. I quickly washed off the dock and me but it was a great moment for me. She had the last joke on me. Rest in peace my friend.
