I think things have gotten a little out of hand lately. It seems recently the Boy Scouts of America came out announcing that they will be allowing girls into their organization in order to allow them to reach the rank of Eagle Scout.
I understand the reasoning; there really isn't an equal to the Eagle Scout rank recognized in society in the Girl Scouts. But I feel like this solution kind of defeats the whole purpose of both groups which is to raise young boys and girls in environments suited for their particular needs so that they can succeed. And when you make the area of inclusion to fit everyone, the kids get less value out of the program.
I think we need to put more into making the Girl Scouts an organization with equal opportunities to the Boy Scouts, not merge them into one.
