McDonalds to Go 100% Recyclable by 2025

Good news for fast food junkies! McDonalds is shifting towards 100% renewable/recyclable packaging. By 2025, the company plans to source all packaging (wrappers, straws, bags, etc.) from "renewable, recycled, or certified sources".

While other companies have already put into place similar initiatives, McDonalds is hoping to address another environmental issue in that even when fast food companies employ recyclable materials, the waste usually ends up in a landfill rather than recycling plant regardless. For this reason, McDonalds also plans to implement recycling collection across its stores, globally, by 2025, with either customers or workers being responsible for separating waste.

It is nice to see companies taking the initiative and recognizing the impacts they hold across the world. Hopefully we see other companies following suit and head out on the path of creating significant, powerful change.
