A Japanese inventor has developed an extremely life-like robot that will be broadcasting news very soon.
The creepy robot, now called ‘Erica’, has one of the most advanced artificial speech systems in the world and will begin anchoring TV news reports in April. The robot is able to geographically locate and interpret sounds, and using infrared sensors can track people in the same room.
With the advancements this robot holds, it is actively learning and, as hits creator warns, may soon develop an ‘independent consciousness’. Erica has even developed compassion, making her a prime candidate for the expressions required to be an effective newscaster.
One thing is for sure, the world of broadcasting is on the cusp of a potentially industry-altering advancement.
