The Syracuse Crunch beat the Rochester Americans, 6-3, the other night to advance to the North Division Finals! The Crunch swept the Americans in the best of five series, 3-0. Syracuse will play the winner of the Utica/Toronto series in the next step of their quest to win the Calder Cup.
Matthew Peca and Mathieu Joseph each scored a goal and had two assists, while 21 year old rookie goaltender, Connor Ingram stopped 33 of 36 shots to keep the Americans at bay. Rochester, already a talented team, were bolstered by the addition of prospects sent to the Americans by their parent team, the Buffalo Sabres. However, the Crunch played determined and aggressive hockey to defeat the Americans and move on to the next series. Syracuse will get a bit of a rest now as the Utica/Toronto series resumes this Friday. Toronto leads the series, 2-1.
Congratulations to the Syracuse Crunch! With such dedicated and inspiring play, the team has made the city proud. Good luck to the team as they move on in search of the Calder Cup!
