With the incredibly hot weather coming up today, the heat index being close to 100 degrees, we thought it would be important to share some heat safety tips we shared on the show this morning.
First and foremost, it's never okay to leave children or pets in an unsupervised car with no air conditioning. Temperatures in the car can rise to 20, even 30 degrees HOTTER than it actually is outside. Make sure that you keep them away from harm, and bring them with you wherever you go today.
Want to have something tasty for lunch or dinner? It's recommended you eat a cold sub or salad to keep your oven off. This prevents your house from getting extremely hot due to the heat an oven can project out.
Using a fan to try and cool off? It may not be enough! Today's the day to be sure you have a working air conditioner to keep your house cool from the extreme heat. A regular fan will just essentially blow the warm air around your house, and won't provide any relief.
You should also take a cool shower or bath to help refresh yourself if you have to do a lot of outdoor work today. Hopefully that's not the case!
Finally, drink plenty of water. It's the best way to keep yourself hydrated and refreshed with sweltering temperatures outside. And if you can, try to stay indoors in an air conditioned environment as much as possible.
We hope these tips help! Check out the Facebook Live we did this morning below...
