Destiny USA Build-A-Bear Ends 'Pay Your Age' Early

posted by Becky Palmer -

No one could have predicted this. Yesterday, Build-A-Bears across the country took part in the 'Pay Your Age Day' promotion. Just as the name says, the promotion offered people to bring in their children to make a Build-A-Bear, and only have to pay the age of their child. This is a tempting offer because Build-A-Bears can become expensive once you are done adding all of the clothes and accessories.

One thing that wasn't anticipated, the massive amount of people who wanted to take advantage of this! Right here in Central New York at the Destiny USA location, a line formed that wrapped around from the entrance into the food court. Parents at Destiny USA said they waited as much as two hours in line to try and get Build-A-Bears for their children. In the end, the line had to be cut off because of safety concerns.

The Destiny USA location wasn't alone with safety concerns, as it was a company wide decision to cut off lines nationwide. It was a bummer for kids and parents who had waited, but lucky Build-A-Bear offered a $15 discount voucher to anyone who was cut off in line. Destiny USA also offered free carousel rides to anyone waiting in line.

While it was a good idea, unfortunately it was hard to anticipate how many people would show up. If you wanna see what it looked like yesterday in Destiny USA, check out the video below from CNYCentral.
