The New York State Fair, which opens on August 22 and runs through Labor Day, September 3, will require vendors to sell Aquafina bottled water for at least $2 this year under an exclusive deal that has been signed with Pepsi. In the past, bottled water sold for as little as $1 a bottle.
Pepsi will make sure that all vendors will be well-stocked with the 20 ounce bottles of water, and will allow the Fair to market the bottles with its logo while ensuring that the bottled water is consistent in quality. The contract is for one year. Next year the Fair will solicit bids for its bottled water with the stipulation that it be made in New York State.
Visitors will be allowed to bring their own bottled water to the Fair. The Fair will also be installing water refilling stations that will enable visitors to refill their empty bottles. The stations will be located in major buildings throughout the fairgrounds including the new Expo Center. As is always the case, patrons will not be allowed to bring their own alcohol to the Fair.
