Last night I witnessed the remarkable work of Syracuse’s medical, fire and police personnel. Just before tip off for the SU basketball game against Northeastern, a male fan seated near mid court, dropped his drink as his body went stiff. I wasn’t able to see much, but I have to give credit to the amazing men and women who rushed to his aid.
Everyone was essentially quiet as the EMTs worked to revive this unresponsive male. After the use of a defibrillator the man became responsive! He was able to give medical personnel his information as he was wheeled out of the Carrier Dome. The crowd erupted into applause for the miracle they just witnessed. It was pretty extraordinary to see how the whole dome stopped to let the medical aids focus, and attend to saving a man’s life.
Once the chaos was resolved Syracuse fans bounced back into the wild supporters we know and love. SU fans really do have all the heart!
