Honor Flight Syracuse Honors Families Of Fallen Soldiers With Flags

This past Sunday was a special day for families of 30 veterans who sacrificed their life in support of their country. To make sure their families felt the gratitude of their country for their loved one’s ultimate sacrifice, Honor Flight Syracuse honored the families at a special ceremony held at the Syracuse War Memorial.

The families were presented with a picture of their loved one on a flag as a way of ensuring that the memory of their family member would live on. “There’s a moment of reflection of what that person did for their country, their family, what they did for their communities,” said Jeffery Bastable, Director of Development for Honor Flight Syracuse.

Honor Flight Syracuse takes two mission trips a year. One in April and one in September. During those trips, they ask the community to let them know if there is a family who would benefit from the flag. What a wonderful way to honor the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country!
