CNY our favorite grocery store, Wegmans, was just named best workplace for diversity according to Fortune magazine. Fortune list 100 US Companies each year that it says are doing the most create inclusive cultures for women, people of color, LGBTQ people, employees who are baby boomers or older, and people who have disabilities. The ranking is based on what employees of the companies report in a 60-question survey about the trust, pride and camaraderie they experience in their workplace, and how those experiences compare to their colleagues' reports of the same workplaces. It's also based on the diversity of the company's overall workforce and its management representation, taking into account industry trends.
This year Wegmans moved up one spot from last year’s 5th place ranking, into 4th place. Wegmans workforce includes 47,916 members. Of those 24 percent are minority, 54 percent are female, 23 percent are baby boomers or older, 4 percent are people with disabilities and 3 percent are LGBTQ. Another reason we love Wegmans!
