Rosalie's Mom writes to us:
My 7 year old daughter Rosalie came home from school one afternoon and told me she wanted to start a club to help the homeless. I told her there are a lot of places she could go and help. She still wanted to do her own thing. Last weekend she made a shopping list and we went shopping for all her supplies. She got brown bags, peanut butter, jelly, applesauce cups, spoons, granola bars, breakfast bars, gloves, and even little pieces of candy. We then worked together to decorate the bags with colorful designs. Saturday morning she made sandwiches and packed up all her goodies into the brown bags. She paid close attention to detail even making sure every bag has a spoon for the applesauce. We set of for a drive around downtown and started handing out her bags. The look on the first person's face was priceless. She put down her window and handed them the bag, wishing them a great day! After the first bag it looked like she was hooked to this feeling of helping the community. She couldn't wait to give out the rest of her bag lunches. People were so impressed with this seven year old doing such a generous deed. She only had four lunches made this weekend but she is getting ready to make more for this coming weekend. We are even debating on turning this into a project for her as a girl scout! I'm so proud of her for not only talking about actions that need to be taken in our community but actually getting out there and doing it.
