Another Winter Storm Watch: What to Expect and When

If you reside in the following counties: Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, Otsego, Southern Cayuga, Tioga, or Tompkins, there is a winter storm watch effective from 7 AM Tuesday through 7 AM Wednesday. If you are located in Oneida county the warning is from 1 AM Tuesday through 7 AM Wednesday. And those in Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego Counties from 10 PM Monday through 7 AM Friday.

A chance for widespread steady snow will be from around lunchtime Tuesday through midnight Tuesday night. Two very strong cold fronts will be making their way through upstate NY allowing for very cold temperatures and strong winds. Reaching wind chills of -20 to -25 to almost -30 on Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, make sure you are following the right safety precautions! These temperatures could cause frostbite to any exposed skin anywhere between 20-30 minutes. Also, be aware that having temperatures that are so low makes the salt that is used to melt snow much less effective. So if you have to drive, make sure you are being very cautious!
