Are you a fan of wine? Well if you love the occasional glass you will be excited to hear that a new federal lab for grape research will be built in New York’s wine country!
The new laboratory for the federal Grape Genetic Research Unit at Cornell AgriTech will be built in Geneva, NY.
The New Facility will help to develop higher quality grapes varieties that are disease resistant.
Critical to the New York State economy is our wine and grape industries. Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Kathryn Boor, said that “the new, state of the art USDA-ARS research facility will support important breakthroughs arising from research collaborations among the USDA scientists, Cornell scientists and others to benefit these vital industries.”
