Sentencing today for an Oswego County woman accused of stealing more than 100 thousand dollars from the small village where she worked as clerk and treasurer.

Margaret Bailey stood before a judge today and got 2 to 6 years behind bars on Grand Larceny charges. She was the clerk in the former Village of Altmar, which has now been dissolved.

Prosecutors say over a five year period, she stole 117 thousand dollars from the town account. In fact during a two year period, Bailey is accused of stealing 60 percent of the towns tax collections. As part of her plea agreement, Bailey must also pay full restitution.

The thefts were uncovered after an audit was conducted by the State Comptrollers Office.
