The anniversary of a horrific train crash in Canada will be remembered in a protest today in downtown Syracuse.

The Alliance for Green Energy says the crash that killed 47 people in In Quebec in July of 2013 was caused by a train carrying explosive fracking oil.  They say the trains carrying that same oil pass through Syracuse and surrounding communities, and they want that to stop.  The protest will call for a ban on transporting the oil through Syracuse, and for improved safety measures until a ban can be put into place.
