The state senate's budget bill includes almost $8 million dollars to fight a growing heroin problem.

Senator Greg Ball, who's on the senate's Task Force on Heroin and Opiod Addiction, says it's a priority to get the message to young people that a single dose of heroin can be deadly.  He also says its relative low cost is making it a bigger problem.

Ball says the money allocated is "a drop in the bucket," but it's a big step forward in showing it's a priority for Republicans and Democrats.
