An Auburn man is facing a slew of felony charges after police say he attempted to grab a gun for the holster of an arresting officer.

Cayuga County Sheriffs Deputies say they had pulled over 36 year old Joshua Vail of auburn because he was wanted on a burglary charge stemming from a break-in April.

Upon being told he was under arrest, Vail became combative and attempted to forcibly take a detective's firearm from his holster. Vail was eventually subdued using minimal force and taken in front of a judge for arraignment.

At his court appearance, Vail again became combative and non-compliant and exhibited signs he may have been under the influence of an unknown substance. He was taken to the hospital and then later released and he's now being held without bail in the county jail on a number of felony charges.
