Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh reports that detectives arrested a man yesterday evening at the Valero in the Town of Clay for Robbery.

At about 9:15pm last night , David Pastorell (52) of 301 Northwood Dr in Mattydale, entered the Valero located at 4989 Bear Rd in Clay. The clerk working behind the counter believed Pastorell was portraying that he had a gun in his pocket, although none was verbally threatened. Pastorell then walked behind the counter and took money out of the cash register, however was thereafter met with physical resistance from the clerk and two patrons of the Valero.

Pastorell was detained by the three men until sheriff’s personnel arrived. The clerk suffered a scratch to his face and refused medical treatment. Pastorell was transported to the sheriff’s headquarters building with no apparent physical injuries. Shortly after arriving, Pastorell complained of having difficulty breathing and was transported to a local hospital. There were no weapons observed at the scene of the incident.
