Former Congressman Jim Walsh will be acknowledged for his role in bringing peace to Ireland.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) say they will unveil a plaque in Walsh's honor Tuesday night at Coleman's Authentic Irish Pub in Syracuse.  Officials with AOH say Walsh was a key player in what's known as the "Good Friday Accord," which ended the "troubles" in Northern Ireland.

They say Walsh also is known for the "Walsh Visa," which permits young unemployed Irish to come to America to live and work for up to two years.  AOH says that conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine could use what Walsh did in Ireland as a model for resolving their differences.
